Girls Paint Night

Last week, my friend Emilee’s mom, Mary hosted a “Spook-tacular Paint Party” for her friends.

She was kind enough to ask me to “teach” the class. At first I was a little uneasy on saying yes but I would do anything for her so of course I agreed.

I decided on 4 different paint options for the night and we had at least 1 from each design covered.

And then…we had an extra design pop up. My sister saw this idea on Pinterest, Emilee’s son Ben was inside the house, we had an extra canvas and white paint…so we went with it. By doing a child’s footprint upside down in white paint, going back and adding eyes and wording...you’ve got a cute little ghost!!

Ben was obviously less than thrilled that we were doing this to him.

So we painted, and chatted about our jobs, their husbands & kids, what we’ve seen on Facebook and Pinterest this week, and ate dinner and did all over again.

In the end, this is what all we wound up with....

Thanks so much Mary for having all of us and allowing me to “teach”. I know we all look forward to the next one!

Week in Review = Photo Dump

I sit here on a Tuesday afternoon in utter confusion.

Did last week really happen? I vaguely remember last Sunday,  but everything past that…it’s one big blur. All I can say is that I’m glad this week is slower than last and that this weekend is wide open itself.

Here’s a recap to catch everyone up..

Monday & Tuesday I painted…what felt like a truckload full of goodies, but in actuality  it was only 3 or 4 pieces. And I probably made no less than 17 trips to Hobby Lobby in this time.

Wednesday, Emilee, Chuck, Patrick and I went to Nashville for the Capitol Records Street Party featuring my man, Mr. Eric Church.

Ok, so the stage was waaaaay far away and let's face it, I'm short. Ergo, this was my view.

Nonetheless, we had a great time and even tried pulling off one of those "let's take a picture of ourselves" picture. Chuck's there...kinda. We're all definitely rockin' the sweaty outdoors concert look by this time.

Thursday Emilee’s mom, Mary hosted a “Paint Party” and invited me to be the “teacher”. We did a fall themed project. (Later this week, I’ll post an entire blog on this night.) But this is a little sneak peak of how it all turned out!!

Friday I made a Walmart run to get ingredients to make a punch for a baby shower the next morning. Came home, made the punch, painted, gathered all my belongings for the next day’s events and made about 23 trips from my storage room to my car. Back and forth and back and forth. (If you’ve seen where I live, you’ve seem my storage room, because I’m quite fond of it. It might be my favorite room. Although I will tell you, when I first moved in I thought there was no way I’d ever fill that huge room and in 3 short years I’m busting at the seams. There’s a place for everything and everything has it’s place. **Motto for everyone to live by, in my opinion.**)

So I made this punch recipe for a Baby Shower Brunch. I found it on Kraft Foods’ website. It’s a great site for easy peasy recipes for any meal and occasion. (However if you make this, you will want to at least double it. I almost tripled it.) It was really tasty though! Emilee did a great job on the décor. I have LOVED the yellow and grey color combo this year so I thought it was very pretty. Annnd…there’s my punch on the table.

Everyone is looking forward to seeing Skye & Jordan's new little girl!!

After the shower Saturday, I made another trip back to Hobby Lobby and Walmart to get some last minute things for our church’s Bible Bowl Banquet the next night.

Saturday night our family went out to dinner to celebrate my BIL’s birthday. After dinner we went back to their house for cake & ice cream and presents.

Ok, so they’re laughing so hard because my dad was behind me giving me a wet willie because that’s Riley’s little trick right now and he thinks it’s OH SO hill-arious.

Before church Sunday morning, I set up for the banquet that night. Sunday afternoon I participated in our local Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Lorna’s daughter Audrey went with us this year….check out little miss..

Sunday night was the banquet. I was in charge of decorating and setting up again. By now, you’ve probably picked up on me enjoying decorating and parties and showers. It’s my thing.

Remember the Traveling Pumpkins?? Well...this is where they ended up. Told you there was a method.

Cleaned all that up. Packed and unpacked my car one last time for the week and that brings us to yesterday when I yawned my way through the day.

Fall Bucket List

I've had the privilege to do several Fall orders lately. This time of the year will always be one of my favorites, but I'm starting to realize that the older I get, I genuinely enjoy all four seasons for different reasons. For instance, I've never been a big fan of Summer. It's hot...it's humid...it's muggy...it's hot, humid & muggy. Ugh. But I LOVED this Summer! So much so that it changed my opinion of the season. Funny how time & age do that to a person..change I mean.

Here's a couple Fall pieces...

I made this one for my sister because I kinda like her & thought she needed a new one to hang outside her classroom.

This is another one of the infamous Post-It Note orders I talked about last time.

I attempted to do a washed / distressed look on this one. You can see it a little bit on this next picture.

Tomorrow's the BIG night! ECB in Nashville!! You'll most definitely be hearing more about that later this week!

Eric Will Perform at Capitol Street Party This Wednesday

Since i know I won't be able to do my What I'm Loving Wednesday post tomorrow, and since I'm loving sharing things I'm finding on Pinterest, here's a couple of my favorite finds this week...

The picture quality isn't the best..but you get the idea...Donuts at a reception! Pure genius!

I don't know who this Kid Cudi is...but he or she got this one right!

Drumroll for my MOST FAVORITE FIND THIS WEEK...........................

I love this Fall Bucket List! You can go here and print it out for free. Cut the edges off and frame that puppy up for an easy Fall decoration & check things off as you do them!! I have mine in my office at work, and it has made for some good conversations the past few days.

What's on YOUR Fall Bucket List? I'm liking the "go on 2 dates" one myself  : )

Post-It Note Orders

I have great friends. If you've read my blog anytime before now, this will come to you as old news. Among those friends, is Laura Hall. She is another one from our "Nursing Girls Group". (Back in the day when I was in Nursing School at Tech then decided to change my major half way through my Junior year and the rest of them went on to finish...remember that story?)

Laura now works (at the same hospital that I do) as a nurse in ICU. I keep the building alive, she keeps the patients alive. Everybody wins.

A couple months ago, she borrowed my portfolio, and when she returned it, she had post-it notes stuck on about 100 pages for orders that she wanted. There was something endearing and humorous at the same time about all her little sticky notes. So much so, that eventhough I've put her orders on order forms, I still can't bring myself to take those post-it notes out. I will at some point, or they'll lose their sticky and fall out....whichever comes first.

Laura & her husband Brian, have a daughter, Callie, and she is such a pretty little girl. I picked Callie's order to be my first on Laura's long list. I love the colors she picked out and I love the way it turned out!

This week is nothing less than c-razy. On top of the full-time job and several orders to get done, there's also a couple of t-ball games, Eric Church concert in Nashville, my first art class to "teach", a baby shower, a banquet dinner at church and I think that's about it... I think. It makes my head hurt a little. All good things coming up though and I'm really excited about the concert, naturally. Oh, and it's free. But we all know I'd pay a small fortune to see him any chance I could, so that doesn't really matter now does it?

Something New & Christmas Ordering Now OPEN!!!

I don’t know about you, but I am officially, 100%, without a doubt ADDICTED to Pinterest.

Goodness. Gracious.

I’ve pinned A LOT in the past few days…lots of ideas for the upcoming holiday, lots of general craft ideas, lots of gift giving ideas, paint ideas, party décor and theme ideas…it just goes on and on. It’s probably going to get out of hand before too long.

I’ve been seeing these Ribbon Wreaths on there and decided I must have one and I must make it myself. I’m too cheap stubborn to buy one from someone else. And I love that sense of satisfaction that I made it. I debated between doing a Fall theme or a Christmas theme….and well, you can tell which one won out.

So, now that I have broken the seal on the Christmas topic, let’s talk about Holiday Ordering 2011. The cut-off date to submit your Christmas orders will be Friday, November 4. I have SEVERAL in the queue already but there’s certainly room for more.

Here’s what you do…

1.        Send an email to ericaflatt@gmail.com. All you have to say is something like, “Put me down for 2 Christmas orders.”

2.       Then, I will send you an order form (hopefully within 24 hours)…I know you’re getting SUPER excited by this point!

3.       Fill out the form and send it back to me. (If you’re requesting multiple orders, please do 1 sheet per order!)

4.      I will review your order and contact you with any questions. (Nit picky stuff like “What shade of pink? Because there is in fact more to pink than just blush and bashful…name that movie!) At this point your order will become "finalized". If you are submitting a large or detailed order, I may request a deposit be placed before I begin work.

5.       In the queue you go! I will give you updates as I get to your order.

My plan is prioritize orders by “Need By” dates. Sounds fair, right? For example, you’re order might be the first one I get, but not needed til December 25. Order #34 might be needed Nov. 15. Obviously, Order #34 wins. Make sense?

If I get to a point post cut-off date that I can take on more orders, I will open the queue back up for a limited time & let everyone know.

Now it’s time to starting thinking of everyone on your shopping list….and making your own list! Don’t forget your kids’ teachers and Sunday School teachers, your Secret Sisters, December Graduates, Weddings, Holiday Party Hostess Gifts, Co-Workers, Babysitters, I could go on forever!!

It’s shaping up to be a great holiday season this year, and I’m so excited to be working with repeat customers and new ones too!! Start thinking and get those orders in!
